This paper sets out a series of proposed measures to strengthen the research, education and treatment (RET) of problem gambling. It is primarily a response to Questions 14 and 16 of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Consultation on Proposals for Changes to Gaming Machines and Social Responsibility Measures, focusing on practical ways with which Government can encourage greater social responsibility within the gambling industry, and positioning this social responsibility at the heart of the debate over public health.
